Possibly remote-triggered avalanche near a steep rock outcropping. A set of ski tracks were within 10 feet of the crown on a NW slope at 8,700'.
The weak layer involved 2-3 mm buried surface hoar within 1 foot (32 cm) of the surface. The bed surface had about 6 inches (15cm) of newer snow on top of it. It is likely this was triggered sometime during the last storm (1/8).
