Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Weather today was overcast with moderate snow fall, light winds out of the SW and temps around 25-30 degrees. We saw a shallower snowpack than expected with sagebrush poking through on S and SW slopes and large cornices on the E ridge tops (see photo). There was evidence of some cornices that had released but did not cause any avalanche. No whoomfing or cracks were observed.
