Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Dug & observed snow pit at Tweener Nose on NE aspect at 8300' elevation on a 20 degree slope angle in sheltered tree area at 1415 hours as part of 5 student/1 guide AVI 1 course (Day 2 of 3). No observed avalanche activity .

24" slab on top of weak sugary facet. No propagation. Increase risk due to pending fresh snow.

Descended NE aspect above drainage gully. On descent observed some exposed rock and tree branches near parking turnout.
