Afternoon wx obs: skies clear to partly cloudy, a few high clouds and mid-level cumulus later in the afternoon. Steady moderate to strong winds blowing out of the W/SW throughout tour.
No recent avalanche activity observed.
No formal obs, just moving surface obs. Surfaces softened but never became wet, wet snow problems were not an issue. We found some small, isolated wind slabs up to 15cm deep that were well bonded and unreactive. Upper elevation surfaces are a real mixed bag, all showing some signs of faceting. Very hard and icy surfaces that I encountered last week had faceted quite a bit, making for easier travel but potentially touchier conditions once loaded.
We did not encounter any avalanche problems on our tours. Winds helped to keep surfaces cool and recent wind slabs were unreactive.
