Mid and upper elevations had a better refreeze than we had anticipated, given the forecast rain-snow line. Upper elevations were dust (approx 4") on a supportable crust. Surface snow was dry and loose through early afternoon. Wind was moving significant amounts of snow, and prompted us to avoid areas where loading was evident through the depth of new snow, though it was not yet stiffened into a slab and we did not observe cracking or collasping.
Direct sun hit upper slopes later in the afternoon and likely began to melt the new snow.
